The morning Chapter one

The whole day rests on the first twenty minutes.

You have been awake since five, you have taped the last box shut with something still in it, and the only question that matters is whether anybody is coming. We come when we said we would, and we start straight away. Kymberly wrote down what that looked like on her day, snow and all.

Apartments, houses, a bedroom's worth or the whole place. We wrap the furniture, we take the beds apart, and we put them back together at the other end.

Offices, storage units, shops. If it needs to be out over a weekend so nobody loses a working day, say so when you call and we will plan the day around it.

Packing

Packing is its own job, and it is the one people run out of time for. We can pack the whole house or just the kitchen and the fragile shelf you are dreading.

Packed so it survives the drive, and so you can find the kettle.

Bagged mattresses, blanket-wrapped furniture, boxes stacked square and labeled. A load that is packed tight does not shift on the road, and a load that is labeled saves you a week of opening the wrong box.

The piano Chapter three

The one you are actually worried about.

Nobody rings a moving company worried about the sofa. They ring worried about the piano — because it is heavy in a way that is hard to argue with, because it lives in the worst corner of the house, and because it is usually the piece with somebody's mother attached to it.

We move pianos. Wrapped, strapped and walked out the same careful way everything else goes, on the same day as the rest of your house. Tell us it is there when you call, and tell us what is between it and the door.

At the new place you stand in the doorway and direct traffic, and that is the whole of your job. Furniture goes back together. Boxes go in the room you name, not in a pile by the front door for you to move a second time.

How do you work out what a move costs?
Call and tell us what you are moving, where it is going, and what the access is like at both ends — stairs, lifts, a long carry from the door. We will talk it through on the phone rather than guess at it here.
Do you pack, or only move?
Both. Packing is one of the services we offer, and you can hand us the whole house or just the parts you are dreading, like the kitchen or the glass shelf.
Will you take stairs and awkward pieces?
Yes, and it is worth telling us about them when you book so the day is planned for it. The reviews on this page are mostly about exactly that: narrow stairs, heavy tables, and the piece nobody else wanted to touch.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can, because good days go first. If it is short notice, call anyway — several of the reviews on this page are from people who called a few days out, or the day before.
Do you really move pianos?
Yes. It is one of the services we list, along with residential moves, commercial moves and packing. Mention it when you call and tell us what is between the piano and the door.
